Cisco UCS B Series Upgrade 2.0 to 2.2 Step by Step



Upgrading the UCS B Series can be a trick affair however, here is a summary of tasks to guide you:
  1. Upload UCS Infrastructure Package
  2. Upload Server Host Software Package
  3. Take screenshots of Firmware Versions pre-upgrade
  4. Backup UCS Managers Configuration - Pre-upgrade
  5. Update Adapters, CIMC and IOMS on Service Profiles - Do not reboot
  6. Activate Adapters on Service Profiles
  7. Activate CIMC - Does not Reboot
  8. Activate UCS Manager - Reboot
  9. Activate I/O modules - Do not Reboot
  10. Activate Subordinate Fabric Interconnect
  11. Switch Fabric Subordinate - Reboot
  12. Activate Primary Fabric Interconnect - Reboot
  13. Migrate VM's off a Single UCS Test Host
  14. Install  ENIC and FNIC Drivers on OS level and hold off on the reboot - VMWARE 5.0 Drivers Link below and a how to install link as well:

  15. Update Test Host Firmware using New Profiles - Reboot Host from 
  16. Perform Host Test by Migrating a VM Across to upgraded Host
  17. Confirm then perform the updated to each host one by one
  18. Take screenshots of Firmware Versions post-upgrade
  19. Backup UCS Managers Configuration - Post-upgrade
